This course introduces the major theories of criminal justice and is a survey and analysis of the criminal justice system, including a historical and philosophical overview of the development, with special emphasis on the system’s primary components (police, courts, and corrections), and the relationship of these components in the administration of criminal justice in the United States. Writing assignments and reserved readings, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
