This is an overview of contemporary security and public safety concepts and practices. It examines the history and function of modern security and public safety agencies. Upon completion of this course, students are certified for 20-hour basic security training as per IDFPR guidelines and are eligible to apply for Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC). This is a curricular service-learning course. Writing assignments and reserved readings, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
