This course covers the roles of probation and parole officers, including pre-sentence investigation; conditions of probation and parole; parole boards; the administrative relationship of probation to the community and criminal justice system agencies; and effectiveness, supervision, rehabilitation, recidivism, and aftercare. Writing assignments and reserved readings, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course.
